Hindi and Urdu Summer Camp

Pied Piper Preschool presents a STARTALK student program for Hindi and Urdu languages. The classes will be offered to 70 students, heritage and non-heritage learners, from Grade K to Grade 2.

Students will participate in on-site instruction for three weeks. Students will learn spoken Hindi or Urdu with reading and writing. All the level of learners will learn the language in a fun and interactive way and will be exposed to the culture through learning Hindi or Urdu. In the afternoon, students will participate in clubs, like theater, music, dance, cartoon drawing, and film making and enhance their learning with the help of community experts.

Instructional hours will focus on learning the literacy skills that students will take beyond classrooms and learn to apply in real life situations. Trained teachers will make the program engaging and challenging.

Students will meet at Warnsdorfer Elementary School in East Brunswick from Monday, August 3, 2015, to Friday, August 21, 2015. 

The proficiency level of the students will vary from novice to advance for Hindi and Urdu languages, depending upon the exposure to the language at home or in the community and also prior learning of the language in the community schools or back home in India or Pakistan. No prior knowledge of Hindi and Urdu is required. A typical camp day will run from 9.00 am to 3.00 pm.

Lunch, snacks and classroom materials will be provided during the on-site program.
